Ta daaaa! We want to thank all the people in EXACT building who came and saw our prototype; to all the people there who where so kind and appreciate the work we have done; to all the people there who liked our concept!
The client found the concept original and it was a goodanswer to the research question generated by the client. They also said thatthey liked the changes we made during the development of the concept. Briefly, the final design was appreciated and some even suggested to implement the ideato the upper floors and workplaces.
that’s all folks!
ENDING PART/GOODBYE PART
bye bye!We will send you a message in a bottle, soon or later! 🙂
message in a bottle from people to us:
Overall many users liked our concept. They especially liked the fact that it can generate abnormal confrontations in a fun way. They also liked the design of the bottles. and the methaphor. One user at the faculty said that she really liked our concept since she had always problems while sitting on a long table to communicate with people seated far away from her. The EXACT Message in a bottle idea was the best solution for her problem. All of the users like the random turning on the microphones and the speakers because people now will be triggered to interact with each other in a very easy and simple way. Users were also very positive towards the idea sitting next to each other, all together on one table, as a family.
However, some people asked whether it was possible to have an off button. Others were wondering whether the product will be obtrusive to some. However, when they learned that the main proposal was like that (even if we did not show in the prototype), they were content about it. Also few did not recognize the microphones at the first sight
It is about concepts and posters.
First the trials:
We built the table.
We attached the bottles to the table and connected the bottles to each other.
We had difficulties with sound again. Thus, we spent more time than expected on fixing the sound.
(What a pity!)
He helped us to solve the problem.
Now the bottles are sending "messages" between themselves with some gossips about the table.
We still have some issues that has to be solved with programming;
We are start working on the poster and the brochure;
MORE FROM EXACT 2
The message, the speakers, the lamps and the microphones are already implemented in the bottles.
We are on our final line.
But we are still missing something…
… something really small, but important…
"I know that the spades are the swords of a soldier
I know that the clubs are weapons of war
I know that diamonds mean money for this art
But that’s not the shape of my heart "
The shape of my heart is a bottle!
We revised the shape of the final concept.
We drilled holes on the bottle for the sound and cut the bottom of the bottle to place the components.
We still have problems about the sound quality so we tried to fix it, but it’s still not working perfectly.
We are looking for revenge!
Right Here, Right Now We have a lot of wires on our heads,
problems for solving/soldering as well.
But we have the power
and the inspiration never left us.
The concept will consist of a system to make an ordinary long table more interactive during lunch time. More interactive in the sense of creating more communication in a bigger variation of individuals and groups. This system will improve social cohesion in the Exact building and it will make the lunch even more fun.
We want to physically put people next to each other ,so that they would not sit separately, and to provide them a communication tool even if they are sitting far away from each other. To realize this, we decided to implement flowers on certain places (one flower for four people) on the long lunch table which are connected to both to the cashier and to each other.
During the payment for your lunch at the Exact restaurant, you will be asked with how many people you would like to join the lunch table. The cashier will put the number in the system (by clicking a button on the cashier machine) which is connected to the flowers which will light up their spots. In this way people will sit randomly next to each other, without gaps in between.
When seated, we want to maximize the interaction possibilities on the table with a communication tool. Since it is difficult to start conversation with someone you do not know, there should be something to initiate conversation. While a person is having lunch a flower will light up indicating the microphone and speakers are on. This happens on two spots randomly chosen by the system (the system has to recognize the spots which are occupied). So, the person on one spot is able to hear and speak to the person on the other spot without any initiative effort. Also, if a person does not want to be part of it, s/he has a chance to turn it off.
Can you say now that it all comes together? Ha!
